72, Constable Gardens, Edgware, Middsx
« on: Friday 25 August 23 20:49 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm trying to help someone via the pm system on Rootschat and I'm struggling.

Known info so far.

Frances Downie born 2.4.1897 Liverpool. Found on 1901/11/21 UK census.

She is writing letters from 1935 onwards from that address. In 1939 war register at that address is a Frances Smith with the same dob plus 2 redacted entries beneath-possible 2 Smith/Downie children born 1928 and 1929.

Can anyone help with electoral registers around 1934-38 at that address

Many thanks

SS

I see there is no obvious Downie/Smith marriage.  Buying a copy of one of the birth certs would give Mr Smiths christian name

Didn’t come up on Ancestry but thanks for the link.  Presume you haven’t found the address?

Was her mmn Myhan.  There is a tree on Ancestry that says Frances married Herbert Hunt.  Mind you - it also shows she was b 22.4.1897 but was baptised 18.4.1897  ::)

There is reference to Smith at 72 Constable Gardens here www.haine.org.uk/toms_wills/wills_data.php?parish=Middlesex&page=24

Their notes include the following detail for that entry: The record you selected is of grantor named SMITH Frances of the district of Middlesex with the grant issued in 1950.
