Given the commonality of his surname you really need to look for his marriage & get a copy of the cert.

How do you know he was born in Dublin?

I think the following is the birth in 1894 for this particular James, parents James Doyle and Mary Callaghan:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1894/02251/1846983.pdf

Possible marriage in 1884 for the parents of this particular James:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1884/10902/5982049.pdf

So it all really hinges on whether this is the right James or not... it was worth a punt.

OP, did your James and Bridget have a son Christopher in 1921 (address: 54 Jervis Street)?
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1922/01162/1485034.pdf

Or what about this in the Dublin Evening Herald of 14 September 1921: Accident at the Port.- While working on a grain boat at the Alexandra Basin this morning, James Doyle aged 25, of 54 Jervis street, Dublin, was struck on the neck by a falling sack of flour, and rather seriously injured.  He was taken in the Corporation Ambulance to Jervis street hospital, where he is detained.

Is any of this ringing bells?
