I don't know whether it's significant but the first 5 entries on the passenger list above are struck through - including Kate's

I remember a post way back which said it meant they never actually sailed but I'm not sure

Yes, if there's a line through them, it typically means that they didn't sail.  However, sometimes it's because they were accidentally listed twice.  https://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/manifests/left/
