UK GRO CERTIFICATES

Hi everyone - I ordered certs from the UK GRO on 4 August - how long are they taking to get here now? Does anyone know what to do if they don't arrive? Thanks

Assuming you have ordered a real paper certificate, you have to wait 15 working days and then follow the process outlined here in #5.

Actual certs in the mail?
The last one I had to get that way took nearly 8 weeks. Last March we received a Christmas card that had been sent 12th December. 

If they are marriage certs or other ones you can’t get as a PDF or digital image I get them sent to a cousin now and she scans them for me and emails.

After 6 weeks waiting for delivery (to Australia), I requested replacement ones using the appropriate  GRO system and I did receive them within 3 weeks.
In the meantime, the originally requested ones arrived but there was no way of stopping the replacement ones.

I think the one I ordered a while back took about 8 weeks to arrive.   The ones from SP sometimes takes a month to arrive from ordering.

Nothing is quick as it used to be when receiving something from overseas.

Airmail from UK to NZ and Oz used to take 5-7 days before the pandemic. Currently it is in the bracket of 5-7 weeks, judging by my mail ! Add that to the processing time at the GRO  and you can expect your Certs to arrive late September !
More patience required

Goodness! I'd either be on tender hooks or totally forgotten about it!

I live in the UK, so if anyone without a UK friend or relative would like to use my address, I would be happy to scan and email on to you. The last paper copy I bought took about 5-7 days.

The last 2 certificates I ordered a few weeks ago took nearly 2 weeks to arrive (UK), although my orders page said they'd been processed within a week. There is a notice on the home page saying they are 'processing orders as quickly as possible but due to demand, you may experience a delay in receiving your order'. So it could be a double whammy of delays at the GRO and in the overseas postal service.
