The 1890 baptismal entry is flagged with a "P.d." There are instances of "P" only on previous and later pages. Also, some flagged with an "R".pages.

Normally associate "P" with "Private" -  which should be followed up with "receiving" into the Church, not a second baptism.

I can view the 1890 entry but not the 1894.

Thank you again for your help.

I am doing the search for a friend, who gave me permission to request help on Rootschat.

I will leave it up to them if they want to order the certificate.

Hi hanes teulu

I found the second baptism on St Johns online parish records.

Baptism: 7 Jan 1894 St John, Preston, Lancs.
Alfred Finney - [Child] of Joseph Jackson Finney & Ellen
    Abode: Carlisle St
    Occupation: Tailor
    Baptised by: E. E. Goold-Adams

I did find a birth of the second Alfred 1894.

Also the first Alfred is not on the 1891 census record. That's what makes me think the first child died?

An Elizabeth Kitchen was baptised 11 May 1890, St Paul, Preston - the baptismal entry is flagged "P.D."
There's a death registration for an Elizabeth Kitchen, Jun Qtr 1890, Preston, 8e 357 - age 0.

(The entry before Elizabeth is sister Margaret, baptised 11 May - this record is flagged "R").
