From the image of the parish register:

John Wright of the parish of St Michal's [sic] Coventry married Elizabeth Twiggs of the Castle View. Both signed their name. The witnesses were Hannah Wright (x) and William Christian.

How did you come across this marriage if you don't know whether they had children? If you don't know this, then presumably you are not a descendant? Otherwise you would know of at least one child (i.e. your ancestor)?

I'm assuming this is your Thomas in the 1851 census?:

Have you found his marriage record?

John and Elizabeth Wright of Braunstone also had a daughter called Ellen in 1816:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NYT3-PLN

In 1841, John, Elizabeth and Ellen are all living in Glenfield:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MQY2-P5X

By 1851, they are back in Braunstone:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGFQ-T6P

Thomas Charlton, their grandson, is with them on both censuses.

John Wright was born c.1775 in Braunstone, whilst Elizabeth was born c.1780 in Ratby.

Other children of John and Elizabeth Wright include:
- Mary Wright (1802) in Braunstone
- Sarah Wright (1805) in Braunstone
- William Goodes Wright (1808) in Braunstone
- Susannah (1811) in Braunstone

Then there is also an Ann Wright baptised in Enderby in 1800. She married William Norton and their daughter Susan Norton is with John and Elizabeth in 1841.

There is a marriage between a John Wright and an Elizabeth Grudgeons in Enderby earlier in 1800. Neither he nor Elizabeth could sign their name, so I'm wondering whether 'Grudgeons' was another surname misheard?

John Wright married Elisabeth Grudgeons in Ratby on 19 Jan 1800. Both were of the parish of Enderby.

Witnesses were John Langham and Benjamin Burton. (Benjamin Burton witnessed a lot of different marriages in Enderby, which makes me think that he may well have been a clerk in the church, or similar).

I do have a bit of a problem with Goodes -> Grudgeons. I've got Grudgings in my family tree (Desford, not v far from Enderby) and it seems a bitof a linguistic jump from Goodes - the vowel sound in the first syllable is different, Grudgeons/Grudgings has a harder end sound with the N, and there's no "r" sound in Goodes.
