Penang Straits Settlement, Malaysia Marriage Record

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can find copies of marriage records that took place in Penang Straits Settlement, Malaysia? I am researching a chap named William Paxton who may have possibly married a Mary Duggan in Malaysia in 1877. I am hoping that it notes his father's name so I can be sure this is the correct guy! Any help would be amazing.

Per this Runciman family history http://runciman.lornahen.com/p63620.htm a William Paxton "of Gifford" married Mary Runciman nee Duggan in Penang in 1877.

The marriage is recorded in the army file of William Paxton (then of 74th Regiment). He was born circa 1846 in Yester, Haddington.

The marriage is recorded in the army file of William Paxton (then of 74th Regiment). He was born circa 1846 in Yester, Haddington.

His attestation records the birthplace as Yester but elsewhere in the army records his birthplace is recorded as Gifford, Haddington.

Gifford is a village in the parish of Yester.
