OXFORD MAIL look up request May 1945 please

Unfortunately the Oxford Mail archive is only available at Oxford History Centre and therefore I am hoping that some kind person will be able to help me out as I now live in Cornwall and don’t often return “home” and have the opportunity to go and look for myself.
What I am looking for is, any information regarding the story of a serviceman that scaled the outside of the Carfax Tower on VE day.
I am presuming any report, if there is one, would be the next day, 9th May 1945.
I have already scoured the British Newspaper Archives to no avail.
A possible name for this chap is Ronald Richards from St Clements’s.

Have you checked with OHC that the item is available?  Are they able to help with a lookup for you?

Although there are lots of items via Google - including one about Carfax there is no mention of anybody scaling the tower.

My best friends father always maintained that it was him. She was wondering if that was true and asked if I could help.
