Diary summary week ending 3rd September
« on: Monday 28 August 23 22:19 BST (UK) »
Good evening folks , bit late but it is still  bank holiday Monday,  seems a bit like a Sunday  but really bank Holidays make no difference to  me, no extra day off like most retirees.

Been a bit mixed weather wise , when the sun came out it was quite warm but otherwise chilly

Hope everyone is well this week, Viktoria this includes your poorly friend.

Back to normal tomorrow

LM - we have to remember that retirees don't get "Bank holidays" BUT we do have 7-day weekends!

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

Ooooh , that would be nice!
Today I have stripped a bed, aired and remade it ,washed the bedding ,hung it out ,ironed it and it is airing on the maiden.
Went to see poorly  friend as she was very down, sorted a few things out for her.Back home Cooked  our evening meal
Spoke with daughter in the phone and washed up and tidied kitchen in case I die in the night .
Also a quick vac and dust this morning.
Oh, and fed the goldfish.
Now I am tired.
Some “ Holiday Monday” but my choice.

Someone speaking on the radio ,saying how stretched  resources are for various areas, and how money would have to be diverted from things like Domestic Violence and cases of rape and sexual harassment  .
I wonder if such offences were predominantly against men would the services be cut quite so readily?
Mmmmm-
I wonder.

Been a sunny day today,  good breeze so not very warm .

My Hollyhocks have Rust!
Bought them from Morissons ,that’l learn me!
Should’ve gone to the garden centre.
In my old plant book it says use Potessium Permagnate ,that stuff that makes water purple.
Might be another modern cure.

Cheerio everyone.
Viktoria.

BB - I do so love your comment about retirees having 7 day weekends!
My O.H said to me about mid morning did I want to go out for the day…
 why said I…
because it’s a bank hol he said
What difference does that make … we never used to go out and now it’s irrelevant I said..
Do he shrugged his shoulders and read the paper..

Weather here was mixed, sunny sometimes and pleasant but when it went in it was quite chilly… I fear autumn’s round the corner… sadly.

I hope those who do like to go out over BH enjoyed it… we’ll just pick any old day instead 😂😂.

Take care

Just felt like a Sunday yesterday.

When I was young bank holiday was a walk, walked to Hampstead  Heath I remember, what a walk, if we walked home we were allowed to have a bag of crisps with a blue salt package from a proper off licence, the only time  we ate in the streets, plus for some strange reason there was always  one of my mum's  lovely trifles, not custard  just jelly ones with fruit, lovely.

Caroline had to laugh about the words with your husband.

It is our 59th anniversary today, if my husband asks to  go out for a meal I might reply the same Caroline, he never celebrates our anniversary, we shall  see.

Chilly today, was chilly last night and I had an extra cover on the bed, my parents always had this week and first week in September as holidays, we never went away but would go out for days, generally nice weather, doesn't look like it at the moment.

Viktoria,  my fuchsia  plants aren't doing very well  this year, most were established plants.

Take care everyone

Yesterday was one of mixed emotions. Third anniversary of the passing of our dear son Nick. Spent the morning quietly and then after lunch we had been invited to a family gathering to my cousin Sylvia's family who were about to say the final farewell to her in the scattering of her ashes.
Interesting to meet her sons and their families as we have not been close to them at all. I think it was a family disagreement many years ago which kept us apart (her mum and my dad were brother and sister in a large family- I think you will get the drift)
But we spent a very pleasant afternoon with them and a promise to get together again soon to have a proper catch-up.

Glad you sort of made up, with your family .
You would really be able to empathise with them as it was your son’s anniversary too.
These things don’t get easier do they.
But I would hate to forget.

A dull dreary damp morning ,and I have more washing to do.
It will have to wait.I never use the dryer, things are so crumpled when they come out and it takes for ever.

No news really ,must do a bit of shopping and a parcel to post .
Daughter phoned last night as usual and has sent a photograph of a four tier wedding cake ,very “ modern”, for one of the sales staff , made by my grand daughter .
Very impressive , it towered, not a rich fruit cake ,a sponge with ganache  icing  etc etc etc .She tempered the chocolate and the weather was so hot ,that must have been difficult .
Her boyfriend is on a charity motor cycle ride round Europe ,seven countries
and will be home soon.
Aren’t young people brave and adventurous ,we did not do such things ,.
Grandchildren of RootsChatters have been incredibly brave ,I heaved a sigh of relief when L.M’s grand daughter was safely home!

So Cheerio ,look after yourselves.
Viktoria.

Well things to do so must get on.

Oh, Viktoria,  you are very kind, think we all  breathed a sigh of relief,  to be honest I didn't  understand back packing, once I knew they were travelling as they made friends I felt little easier but it  was a worry.

Will be nice Radcliffe Jeff to keep up a renewed  friendship with family lost due to probably a misunderstanding  , something similar happened when my mother inlaw died, I had to have a word and say " what would you do if this relative died" it is all ok now thank goodness but it was not a pleasant situation, brought on I might add by the person concerned at the time.

I think wedding cakes seem to be more sponge type now, what a job to ice  a cake in hot weather, remember the hot weather??, bit like winter today, not like it was 59 years go today

Yes, grandchildren are more adventurous,  I wonder where most students get their money from, my grandaughter  was spending an inheritance, she returned  with hardly any money left but had a wonderful time.

Nothing to do with the diary but no one, I don't think,  over all the years has ever asked about my surname interests and I have never been contacted directly  from DNA
