There is still a Newbridge in South Wales?
On the Ebbw River, and in the County Borough of Caerphilly.

Having worked in Pontllanfraith some 30-40 years ago, it's the only one I know!

Many people living in Pontypridd don’t know that it used to be Newbridge 😀, though there is a ‘new bridge’ in the town.

His father John is with Daniel and his 2nd wife Priscilla in 1881 age 67 living Bishop Wearmouth.  Both he and Daniel have place of birth as South Wales.

Have you looked at the Daniel, aged 18, in 1861 at 1 Hare St, Bilston, Wolverhampton. Father John, labourer, mother Mary, and Daniel, all born Glamorgan. May not be the family, but worth a look.

I did see that one yes, but had no other ties to my Daniel. I'll admit Mary was a candidate for the mother's name. Worth a look as you say, thank you.

As I said, I'm surprised how much they moved around for the 1870's! I have all those census entries and marriages, but because Mazella dies so young, nothing really ties Daniel to earlier census results.

Thank you for looking!

Thank you everyone for the help.

I hadn't known about Pontypridd being Newbridge so that makes sense. It's interesting that FreeBMD allows you to look for Pontypridd births after 1863 but Newbridge is not listed as an option before that.
