I agree with Gadget, the ears are a giveaway.
Lovely job Peter. I can't do this one until later as I am expecting company.

Hi again S_L

A lovely image  :)

I'd say it might be earlier than 1860s and maybe late 1850s - definitely before 1865 (ears are nor really showing!). Have a look at some early images here:

Especially this one  https://jayneshrimpton.co.uk/content/images/2020/10/5.-Mid-late-1850s.jpg

You have  good restore already and I'm waiting for my new specs so a restore from me might be a while in the making!

I like that Japeflakes. Already brings out the romance of the time period of this piece. Very nice.

Thank you :-)

I started down the wrong path on this one - I think, and never seemed to get back on track. I am not happy with it... but I'll post it as my go...

Hi Gadget,

I had thought earlier than the 1860s was possible, thanks for the links. I hope your new glasses are a success.

Agree with Gadget early 1860's at the latest but could be as early
as mid 50's.
The one thing I do notice is that her wedding ring is actually on her right hand
as ambrotypes are in reverse ie. a mirror image.
I have seen it very rarely where the woman has put her wedding ring on her
right hand as it looks like it's on left for the purposes of the photo.
