Please Identify Regt from blurred Cap Badge WW1
« on: Tuesday 29 August 23 21:18 BST (UK) »
This Soldier Pte 29451 Edward Moogan of 13th Yorkshire Regt  Killed in Action 9 January 1917
The Photo they found on another Tree claiming to be him age 19
But they claim he was Previously in the Notts and Derbyshire  (Sherwood Foresters) as Pte 29686 but they don't know where they got the Number from.
I can't see that number anywhere.
They say the Notts & Derbyshire is on the Blurred Cap Badge in the Photo but I'm  it convinced
Any Opinions Please

The other number is recorded in the publication Soldiers Died in the Great War, 1914-1919 which was a publication authorised by the War Office, along with the information of his originally being with the Notts & Derby regiment.

Can't help with the badge ID - sorry.

Good evening,

I would say it is the Notts and Derbys; https://www.rootschat.com/links/01sm8/

Not germane to the question but it appears your man was (probably) in the 18th. Btn.
Nott's & Derbys. Regt. as they were absorbed by the 13/Yorks. in April 1916 before going overseas.
While in the support trench at Bouchavesnes East of Albert on 8/1/17 A Coy. was heavily shelled with
1 dead & 6 wounded.
No other wounded men were reported prior to this.
