Trish,

Richard HEATH is not 'mine'. He's on a very good friend's 'tree'. My late wife and I have taken our roots back as far as we can, and I enjoy the hunt, so I'm working on 'trees' for a few in-laws and friends - 5 all told at present. Sometimes, I take the easy option and buy a certificate which, fortunately, I can afford; most hobbies cost something, and I think it's well worth it for the pleasure it gives me. Some might think it a waste of money but, as I'm over 90, I have to take my pleasures where and when I can!

His MC gives his father as 'J. HEATH', occupation 'labourer', so I've done a search for HEATH baptisms with father's name 'J.....', which is how I found Maria, Richard and Ann, and thus their mother - Elizabeth, and all in Thornbury.

As you know, I believe that there are 2 possible marriages - 1807 in Eastnor and 1811 (no parish). A search in Eastnor in '41 reveals an Elizabeth HEATH aged 65, living with John HEATH aged 35, whom I believe to be her son who was baptized in 1808 in Eastnor. I think this means that I can now ignore the Eastnor (1807) marriage, thus leaving only the 1811 marriage - hence my original question.

Sorry if I am going off tangent a bit but where do you have Richard on census 1841/51 and who,  where and when did he marry.

Rosie - I have no problem with tangents! Actually, you've beaten me to it because, after my last post, I realised that I'd not answered the census query in Trish's last posting, which I shall try to address now.
I've not looked for Maria and Ann, but I have for Richard, and I'm willing to bet that you did find him but couldn't recognise him, which is what happened with me until I changed my approach.
Richard married Ann MUMFORD on 25 Jan 1841 in St Pancras and their daughter, Sarah, was bap 04 Apr 1841 also in St Pancras, Middx; a nice, little family which should be easy to find listed in the '41. No chance! After trying everything I could think of and finding nothing, I changed my search parameters and found that Ann and daughter, Sarah, were living with Ann's parents, William & Frances MUMFORD in Chobham, Surrey. That, of course, meant that Richard was (apparently) single, which enabled me to find him back at his marital address in Pleasant Row, St Pancras.
All very interesting, but still leaving me with my original question unanswered!

Thank you.

Far too many coincidences to be anything other than 'ours', but how does it advance our cause?

Anyway, it's coffee time, so I'll cogitate whilst drinking.

I dunno.

The writing on the MC is poor, and what I've read for Father's Name as being 'J. Heath' might be 'I. Heath'. However, the date is definitely 'Jan' and that capital 'J' looks like the father's initial.

Dursley is almost 40 miles from Thornbury HEF.

When was your Dursley bapt?
