WA: Henry GREEN (alias Charles Henry QUICK), Born 1844, Middlesex
« on: Thursday 31 August 23 21:01 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Australia Convict Records, 1846-1930, Reference: ACC1156/R7 (according to Ancestry) seem to indicate this gentleman was reconvicted in WA in or around June 1862 and sentenced to 6 years imprisonment.   He arrived in the Swan River Colony aboard the Lincelles in January 1862 with 8 years of his original sentence outstanding.

I cannot find any details relating to this reconviction/sentence and wonder if someone could help please.

Thank you.

Related thread to avoid duplicating efforts (I know you are asking a completely new question).

Hi BAC3,

Likely to be your man.
Henry Green & Charles Woodward (both names listed on the Lincelles and both on Tickets Of Leave) were convicted of Burglary in Perth, W.A and sentenced to 3 years jail.
On the same day they were both charged with having counterfeit coins in their possession and given another 3 years.
(The Perth Gazette 27 June 1862). Look on TROVE.

Regards,
John.

Good Morning John,

Thank you for the research.   I am extremely grateful.

It seems this may be the correct Henry GREEN, as the 6 year aggregated sentences (that is, assuming the two 3 year sentences were aggregated) reflect the Australia Convict Record reconviction note of 6 years.  Sadly, the Fremantle Prison database does not quote this as a "colonial offence".

By the way, is there a possibility of obtaining copies of the official convict records?

Hi BAC3,

It would appear that Henry Green sailed to Newcastle, New South Wales on 14 April 1873 as a passenger on the "Belle Isle" from Albany W.A.
On 1 May 1873 the "Belle Isle" lost her mainsail during a gale out to sea from Sydney and begun to sink. The ship sunk but luckily all lives were saved and all on board were taken to Newcastle.

Hello John,

Thank you for this information........I researched for passenger listings from Albany with no luck. Noticeable that the alias "QUICK" has been allocated to the wrong person, John not Henry.

I wonder on which ship the remaining members of the QUICK family left Albany, the wife Elizabeth and three children Elizabeth Amelia Henrietta, Mary Ann Azaba and Eva Grace.   Although the destination in 1873 was Newcastle, NSW, the family's fourth child, Emma Constant, was born in February 1874 in Queensland.   The family was certainly able to travel long distances!!!!

Again, thank you for your invaluable help.

Hello again John,

I read a newspaper report of the wreck of "Belle Isle" and it mentioned that of those people saved 5 were women and three children.   An assumption on my part but those could be the "Quick" children???

BAC3,

Do you have the Morgue Details regarding Henry?
It's available if interested.
