If you have ever been a member of Wikitree, this might concern you.

I learnt that even if you leave Wikitree they keep your email address, unless you actually inform them that you want your email address removed from their data base.

Details continue to be thin about this, but it appears that all may not be as clear-cut as described on WikiTree's G2G forum.

There has also been some discussion on Reddit that might prove useful, including participation by someone who claims to be the "hacker." "Hacker" is in quotation marks because, if the statements on Reddit are true, it seems the individual has been trying to warn of the privacy vulnerability for about six months, reporting to both WikiTree management and EU agents for the GDPR. In other words, not a malicious hack at all but a "white hat" trying to get action to close the privacy loophole that evidently has been around ever since WikiTree first launched in 2008. That said, I wish we could get more objective, third-party-researched details to help us understand what actually took place.

Dear Marzian, very interesting links, I have lost all faith in Wikitree to tell the truth about this incident,
