Hello everyone,
I am researching George Crowley. He was born in about 1853, possibly in either Scotland or Ireland. From what I understand he was the eldest son of Cornelius and Catherine (Kate) Crowley - Catherine was born O'Bryan/O'Brian. What makes it uncertain is that it seems George was born 3 years before Cornelius and Catherine were married (m. May 12, 1856 Glasgow, Scotland). He also had siblings:
Cornelius Crowley (son) born 1856
Margaret Crowley (daughter) born 1858
Catherine Crowley (daughter) born 1859
Josiah (Joseph) Crowley (son) born 1861
Mary Crowley (daughter) born 1862
The family arrived in Lyttelton, New Zealand on DEC 9, 1863 onboard the Brothers Pride. Up to that date George was still alive, listed as a passenger and had not been recorded as a death at sea. The ship was placed into quarantine nearby at a place called Camp Bay.
Interesting Joseph died in Christchurch May 18, 1864 - I wonder if it was connected to the illnesses that plagued the ship.
The family migrated to Australia soon after. They were recorded living at 51 Elizabeth St North, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on April 3, 1866.
If anybody can help me confirm if George was alive during the Crowley's stay in Australia that would be terrific.
