1851 Census - Charles Benjamin Fear
« on: Saturday 02 September 23 18:56 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
After Rootschat found my elusive 4x ggf's family (thanks!), I have been trying to find him in the 1851 census, but so far no joy...
His full name was Charles Benjamin Fear, but he generally went by Benjamin or Ben. He was born in about 1833 in Somerset to Thomas and Elizabeth Fear. Four of his siblings were living with their mother in Ancoats, Manchester, in 1851, but no sign of him. I know he was living in Manchester (49 Bradford Rd, Ancoats) when he married in 1853.
Thank you for your time and research,
SapereAude

Please contact me if you know anything about the Fear family of Manchester and Oldham's fish and poultry business  :)

Some of the Manchester 1851 was water damaged

https://www.findmypast.co.uk/articles/census-for-england-wales-and-scotland-missing-pieces
Oh yes, I hadn't thought about that, what a shame, I hadn't realised the damage was that extensive... No idea how I'd got around it as a big part of my family is from Manchester and surrounding areas.
It's unlucky just how much crucial information just happens to be destroyed (countless mysteries could have been solved in 2032)...

He could be Ben Jeam, I assume that is from a transcription? I'll have a look, thanks.
Re Lancs BMD, I've looked and that is him, I had never noticed there had been a mistranscription
