Resources to find people

Hi all - I am looking for two people born late 1800's whom I can't find any record of past 1928 (mentioned in police gazettes in NSW and NZ). They possibly changed their names in order to not be found which would make it an impossible task.
I have looked on Ancestry, Trove, Papers Past, Archives, BDM NZ - has anyone got any suggestions of other sites to look on.  I'm trying to find where they ended up. Thankyou  8)

   Information which I added to this thread has now been deleted by me.

I received a message from the OP asking that "no further information about the family, be posted to this thread".

The information I gathered and placed here, was all available in the public domain and my intent in adding it to this thread was to assist others and cast a wider "search" net.        ~  Lu   <

As you say Lu, this is disappointing especially as it was in the public domain and it may have been of interest to others in the family.  And also others who may have been inspired by the search engines used to track down their family members. 

I think I have mentioned before that the moment I become aware of a resource that I have not searched in I do a search for my ancestors.

I know I have mentioned doing this when i have responded to newbies requests on where to start etc.

Are you at least able to list the resources you used please?
