My father

I have written off for war details about my father but will have to wait months.

However, tucked in a box containing hundreds of family records and photos, I have found a document which may tell me where he served or was based.

I wonder if anyone could please help identify this. I will transcribe it as found it.

William Alma Godderidge was my father.

The document is dated 6th November 1945 and declares he knows my mother and will marry her.

So it looks like he was in Germany.

It's a shame it doesn't tell me if he served in the Navy or army.

Although, whilst still a very young child, I seem to remember him telling me he drew maps from inside aeroplanes during the war.
