How can I report an error on logainm.ie ?
« on: Friday 08 September 23 09:58 BST (UK) »
I've found no contact information on the site, so I thought I'd ask here.

There are two adjacent Mitchelstown townlands in Condons And Clangibbon, Co. Cork divided by the River Funshion. Logainm.ie says the southern one is in Marshalstown civil parish and the northern one is in Brigown civil parish. I'm fairly sure this is the wrong way round. I've checked the OSI.ie MapGenie 6 Inch First/Last editions via their mapviewer and Marshalstown civil parish is north of the river, Brigown civil parish south.
Most roots researched back to the early/mid 1800s. Years noted as 'pre' refer to my direct ancestors, although I'm interested in any relatives:
Mitchelstown, Co.Cork: CORBETT (pre1935), SWEENEY  (pre1935), CUSACK? (pre1894), KEYS? (pre1894)
Mallow, Co.Cork: BROWNE (1895-1935)
Caher, Co.Tipp: BROWNE (pre1895), PURTELL(pre1895)
Cashel, Co.Tipp: FANNING (pre1886)
Llanelly, Carms: GRIFFITHS (pre1934), REYNOLDS (pre1901), WILLIAMS (pre1934)
Ton Pentre, Glams: LEWIS (pre1901)

agreed - the larger townland near the town is to the south and east and Brigown parish, the northern one in Marshalstown.

Thank you, so obvious. I think it's time to turn the computer off!

Definitely!

I think you have mixed up the above quote which was not from me but from athacliath62.

just mention that townlands.ie/openstreetmaps seem to have sourced their data from a later map or listings, e.g. Ballaghadereen is listed as County Roscommon, so after the late 1800s boundary changes.

Townlands.ie also dont always appear list split townlands or parishes correctly, logainm is much better at this.

e.g. Ballard townland near Shillelagh is shown as civil parish of Carnew on townlands.ie, whereas loganim shows a split for Ballard between Carnew and Aghowle, 6 inch OSI map also show this parish split.

So that's TWO obvious signs that I'd been sitting at the computer for far too long !  :D

I've just turned the computer on and sent an email to logainm.ie
