Rushby Hague. Passenger information
« on: Friday 08 September 23 15:06 BST (UK) »
Looking for any passenger record for a Rushby Hague born Sheffield 1888 travelling from UK  to Canada/USA around 1923. There does seem to be a boarder crossing from Canada/ USA. Any help appreciated.

Not sure about the USA birth references but it is strange that I've been unable to find a UK birth record for him. Can I ask were you found the info of him being drunk in charge of horse & carriage. Kind regards

Is it just me or this a bit confusing?

There is the family of Thomas and Clara RUSHBY of Sheffield including a son Leonard William (born 26 Jan 1882 according to his US death certificate). Leonard William marries Hannah STACEY in 1906 in Sheffield. "Rushby HAGUE" (wife - Hannah) travels to Washington in Aug 1923.  Hannah HAGUE and their 6 children travel to Washington in Aug 1924. "Rushby HAGUE" and Hannah appear in the 1926 Washington City Directory. However, his WWII draft and death certificate are in the name "Leonard William". He is "William" in the US 1930 census and "Leonard " in the 1940 census. He signs his wife Hannah's certificate in 1947 as "Leonard".

Meanwhile, Rushby HAGUE, son of Thomas and Clara, born c1889 in New York (according to 1891, USA in 1901 and 1911 census in Sheffield) marries Matilda BROADLEY in 1911 in Sheffield, and they seem to stay in the Sheffield area with their children.

I agree it is a bit confusing. I am leaning towards Rushby being born in the USA becouse I cannot find a UK birth record for him, but that means his parents Thomas & Clara would have had to travel to the USA at some point prior to his birth. I cannot find Rushby on the USA1891 or the Washing Directory, are you able to help on that.

PS: Leonard was born Leonard William Hague
