Whitby Foster Home . 1955 ish.

I am writing to discover was there a foster home , boys school , orphanage in Whitby  in early 1950 . Were children sent there from out of the district and why ? How would I find any admission papers , photos and stories from there . Any pointers to start me on my search . Thank you . Fred .
