I can't believe I missed this post.  Frances' brother William was by x5 gr grandfather!

There are ALOT of STEPHENS / STEVENS about in the family but that doesn't help you with the father of Sophia.

Did you know that William STEPHENS was probably the son of Thomas STEPHENS and Mary nee STEPHENS.  The widow Mary married Joseph AKEHURST in 1787, Joseph being Fanny's brother! 

The signature of Joseph AKEHURST in this thread seems to be the signature of the same Joseph AKEHURST as it's alike the signature on his 1792 MC to Elizabeth ELLMAN.  He would be Sophia's uncle.
