Daniel McLaughlin
« on: Sunday 10 September 23 18:06 BST (UK) »
Hi, Was wondering if anyone could help. Daniel McLaughlin appeared in the Irish 1901 national census. He was residing with his aunt Maria Dougan at 189 Urney Street, Belfast. After that the trail goes cold. The following hint was suggested by ancestry
Daniel McLaughlin
Royal Irish Rifles
26 August, 1907
Service no. 5926

I was hoping someone could perhaps access this record to see if any of the information / names/address would help save my sanity lol

Thanking everyone in advance,
Geraldine

Hi,

The record is available to view on FindMyPast. His address is given as 189 Urney Street, so it is the right man.  No other relevant information that I can see, unfortunately. Some of the writing is quite difficult to read, though.

Queenie thank you so much for taking the time to look. At least I now know it’s the correct Daniel, a step in the right direction.

Thanks,
Geraldine

Thanks for adding the attachment. I still haven’t perfected the skill and my grandson after trying to teach me probably thinks I’m a lost cause!
I cannot find a birth registration for Daniel and was hoping the military records could have mentioned names.

Regards,
Geraldine

There is this birth in 1890 - parents James and Fanny?

No, I see that is not correct.

Do you think this is him in 1911?

The age fits but it may not be him

There is a death in 1918 of a serving army person in the ROSB.  I don't know what this is Royal X X Battalion?  The number is different.
