A  John Cadmus of Penllyn, Glmorgan is mention in  a will of 1671/1672, Margam, Glamorgan

Quite a few of this /(Cadnass) as a surname (and slight variations ) throughout England and Wales using a non-restrictive search.

The lady I am researching seems to have been known with the name Cadnas/Cadnass for the rest of her life following her marriage, with the exception of the 1921 census. As far as I can see it is neither a Welsh nor a Biblical name, and so its origins remain shrouded in mystery. I have not made any signigicant research into her husband's history so I can't say for certain whether it is a name used by his family and adopted by Ann. It doesn't merit an entry in the Dictionary of Yorkshire Surnames, so I'm assuming that it doesn't have a north of England origin. It doesn't seem that any more light is going to be shed on this unusual name.
