Just for info. there were very close ties between Cardiff and Weston-Super-Mare even when I was a child in the 50s. Very regular ferries etc. So a child from the Ebbw Fach valley (of relatively prosperous parents) could easily have been sent to school in Weston across the Bristol Channel, it's not very far.

From the children's names with Evelyn Gertrude EVANS in the 1939 register, I'm assuming her maiden name was WILLIAMS? Arthur E EVANS married Evelyn G WILLIAMS Sept qtr 1920 Pontypool (11a/468). Do you have this marriage certificate?

Please let us know if the marriage certificate has her father's name and occupation. From memory there were a few Evelyn WILLIAMS, it would be interesting to see which one she is.
