Bank Cottage, Catterick
« on: Monday 11 September 23 15:54 BST (UK) »
My Grandfather was an air mechanic based at Catterick during WW1, he wrote many, many letters to his " Darling Floss " whom he married in December 1918. I have copies of these letters and the address was Bank Cottage, Catterick.
Just wondered if anyone knew where this would be.
Thanks

There is a street called 'The Bank' in Catterick. It may have been there.

He would have been stationed at what became RAF Catterick, a couple of miles South of Catterick Garrison. As the airfield stands beside the River Swale, I imagine Bank Cottage was a cottage on the river bank, and can probably be found on pre-1914 maps of the area.

Just to follow up on my own suggestion, I couldn't find a Bank Cottage anywhere in the area which later became RAF Catterick on the 1910 OS 6in to the mile mapping.
