St Pancras Old Church Baptism of Alfred Audley 21st November 1819
« on: Tuesday 12 September 23 09:00 BST (UK) »
Dear All,
I have attached to this message two images of transcripts from two well known websites for the same baptism namely that of Alfred Audley on 21st November 1819 at what I believe is the same church.

The transcripts give different names for both parents. One of the websites contains an image of the page of the parish register but it is two faint for me to read.

Can any person who contributes to this website give me a correct transcript for the baptism.

I hope that by adding these images I am not transgressing any copywrite rules
Regards

Mother's name might be Jane? :-\

Is it the Alfred Audley who married Mary Ann Fisher in Camberwell in 1841?
In Brighton in 1851, with a niece called Diana Price, born Atherstone (mmn Fisher)
Alfred 31, born Middlesex Somers Town.

The marriage image online is also bad. Ancestry say that Alfred's father is John Audley, but to me it looks more like it could say Wade Audley.
Witnessed by Jane Ann Audley?

Hi jonw65,

Yes that is the one, I must admit I had not found the  marriage image on-line I only have the marriage information from the GRO index.

It is interesting that the  witness to the marriage is a Jane Ann Audley.

Alfred Audley and Mary Ann Fisher had no children and it would apper they brought up Diana Price as she was with them in the 1851, 1861 and 1871 censuses. Two daughters of Diana Price were living with  Alfred and Mary Ann Audley in the 1901 census.

Hi
There's a death / burial of a Jane Audley in Camberwell in 1841
Buried 7 May at St Giles Camberwell
Abode Grove Lane
Age 53 years

I think Grove Lane is Alfred's residence on the marriage.

Hi Jonw65, Christine53 and emeltom

Thanks to all for your replies.

Jonw65;
I have now managed to find the image of Alfred's marriage certificate and I agree his father does look like Wade.
Thanks for the the burial details of Jane Audley in Camberwell in 1841 with an abode of Grove Lane This Jane Audley died in  May 1841 whereas Alfred was not married until Q4 1841 but the Grove Lane is  a good link. I have Alfred Audley as living at 28 Fort Street, Tower Hamlets in the 1841.  Unfortunately Jane Audley died  before the 1841 census. I wonder if there were an Audleys in Grove Lane in the 1841 census!

Christine53
Thanks for the information regarding the marriage of William Wade Audley in 1807.  The GRO death indexes have the death registration of a Sarah Ward Audley buried 31st July 1851 aged 52 at Marylebone.abode Stephen Street. Note the note her second forename is WARD as opposed to WADE.

emelton;
I am assuming that the baptism you gave me information about is the daughter of William Wade Audley, whose marriage has been given by Christine53. Do you agree?

Thanks to all for your help, this is starting to look more complicated.

From her age on death, my thought was that Jane could be Alfred's mother.
If you are tempted any time, you can get an instant image of the death reg from the GRO for £2.50
