Do you mind if I ask if you are in the UK?  Have you tried free (American) newspaper sites?

I am in Devon, England.

I haven't tried US Newspapers as I wouldn't know what newspapers or the areas to search.

That is his father, So it is San Jose. That's brilliant.

Not typically a North American phrase.  ;)

I need to stop soon (middle of the night here), but let me find some sites for you first.

https://www.sfgenealogy.org/doku.php?id=santa_clara_county
They have a lot of helpful links (I’ve only used San Francisco County in the past; hopefully Santa Clara is also helpful).

https://www.sfgenealogy.org/doku.php?id=san_francisco_county
San Francisco County but the newspaper link covers more than just SF.

Free newspapers

I will be busy until early afternoon on Tuesday, but I’ll come back here in the afternoon in case others haven’t been able to find anything for you.  Sorry for leaving but we have company arriving in a few hours.

Before I leave, let me see if I can find anything else c1890 in San Jose (San Jose is south of San Francisco, if you are curious).  I believe there used to be a lot of farm land there decades ago.  I don’t know about any connection with horses.

Not a problem. Thank you

It is 10.15am here in the UK, I will see what I can find.

Get some sleep

You have been amazing.

Nelson would have been a dealer in horses in the UK, so that would more than likely be the area he would work/deal.

You are very welcome.

Awww.  I don’t like leaving things unfinished.   ;D

I will resume looking for Mishie’s birth later.  Possibly someone will be able to help before I return.  Night for now, Lisa

Goodnight Lisa

Awww.  I don’t like leaving things unfinished.

Can't be helped, I am grateful for your help so far. There is no rush. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

I am retired, I was born in London. My kids and grandchildren still live in London, I had to get out of London and moved to Devon. Green fields etc

Regards

Tony
