What happened to George Woodley?
« on: Wednesday 13 September 23 12:28 BST (UK) »
George Woodley was born on 3 April 1842 and baptised on 15 May 1842 in Chaddleworth, son of Elizabeth Coxhead Woodley. In 1851 he is with his mother, stepfather Thomas  Eltham, two Eltham half siblings and Woodley grandparents. In 1861. I think he is in Marylebone as a pot boy. Although his age is stated as 20 not 19, his pob is a close approximation to Chaddleworth.

Piece number 89, Folio 104, page 22

Can  anyone find him after that please?
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

Thank you both very much. That does look like him. It wouldn't be the first time that one of that branch fabricated a father using his own / mother's maiden surname and his stepfather's forename and occupation.
