Looking for Robert King & Eveline King (Lismore)
« on: Wednesday 13 September 23 14:23 BST (UK) »
Hello,

New to the site and hoping someone might be able to help me. I am looking for an Eveline King, born 1921, maiden name Lismore. She married a Robert King. I belive they had a daughter, Roberta. Her father was Henry Lismore.

Aside from her birth register I have been unable to confirm any more about her. Is anyone able to help?

Many thanks

Just posting Eveline's birth registration for other readers to see, born on 20 November 1921 at 16 Moores Place Belfast, father Henry was described as a policeman and the mother's name was Elizabeth Buchanan:

Here's the parent's marriage on 11 February 1906 in St. Anne's Church of Ireland Belfast, 23 year old Henry Edward Lismore of 134 Spamount Street  married 22 year old Elizabeth Buchanan of 56 Ormeau Street, the groom's father was named Edward, the bride's father was named Robert:

Here are the couple with a son William at Beggs Street Belfast in the 1911 Ireland census:

Here are some children before Eveline in 1921:

- Henry in 1908:

- William in 1910:

- Elizabeth in 1912:

- Henry in 1915 (note the father's occupation): https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1915/01370/1564764.pdf

- Bertie in 1917 (father still a soldier):

If this was the same Evelyn Lismore who married a Robert King in December 1938 - the GRONI (ie. General Register Office Northern Ireland) website has the marriage, it's pay to view - then note that there was a story in local newspapers about this couple in February 1958, the full name mentioned was Robert John King, a garage proprietor living at 394 Whitewell Road, father of 4 children between 14 and 5 years, who sued a 21 year old man living 3 doors away for 'enticing' his wife Evelyn away. I won't mention the latter man's name as he may be living and that would therefore be against forum rules, likewise, if the daughter you mention in your opening post may still be alive, you would need to remove her name.

Despite the 1911 Ireland census return for house 4 in Beggs Street stating 26 year old Henry's birth place as Belfast, the closest birth registration I've yet found is this one away over to the west, for a son Henry Edwin born on 22 July 1884 in the townland of Gortmore, on the outskirts of Omagh in County Tyrone, father Edwin Lismore was described as a soldier and the mother's name was Margaret Foster:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1884/02680/1987379.pdf

Gortmore: https://www.townlands.ie/tyrone/east-omagh/drumragh/omagh-urban/gortmore/

With an occupation of soldier, it may well be that the family moved around.  Anyhow, here is the marriage of Edward Lismore to Margaret Foster, it took place at Enniskillen (RC Church) and the two fathers were recorded as Edward Lismore, tradesman, and James Foster, labourer:

This looks like a family grave (R 51 in Belfast City Cemetery Glenalina Extension):

Note the address 16 Moores Place in three of the above burial records, this was the same address where Eveline was born to Henry and Elizabeth in 1921.

This looks like Edward Lismore and Margaret Foster in 1901, note his occupation and the various birthplaces:
http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Down/Newtownards_Urban/Marquis_Street/1259527/

Added: Definitely them, here's the birth registration for Georgina Foster Lismore:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1894/02242/1844300.pdf

Sadly, Georgina died in 1907 of cerebro spinal meningitis, there was a write up in a local newspaper about it:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1907/05541/4553981.pdf

Same family in 1911, with a bit more detail on birth places:

Thank you! This is an amazing amount of information. Now to organise it in to my tree.
I was able to read that newsarticle you mentioned from the Newspaper archives so thanks for pointing me in that direction.
