Parents of Fanny CRUMP 1783-1814
« on: Thursday 14 September 23 11:03 BST (UK) »
Many years ago when I started researching my family, I seemed to make an assumption that looking at now I think may be incorrect.

I have Fanny (Frances) CRUMP married to Thomas WALTERS 5 Feb 1804 at St Martin, Tipton by banns. Witnesses - John LAWLEY and Henry HORTON. She is buried 24 March 1814 at St Leonard, Bilston aged 31, so born c1783.

There is a Fanney CRUMP baptised at St Peter, Wolverhampton 15 Nov 1783, parents John and Sarah. Not sure why, when I first looked at this family I thought her parents were John CRUMP and Sarah PHILIPS who married 28 April 1771 at St Peter, Wolverhampton. However, there is also a John CRUMP and Sarah MORGAN who married 22 May 1781 at St Peter, Wolverhampton.

I haven't been able to find a will for either John CRUMP. Can anyone suggest how to solve this dilemma (without looking at dna)?

The sequence of baptisms with parents John and Sarah Crump runs -

Christopher, 25 Dec 1771, WstP (Wolverhampton, St Peter)
Joseph, 23 Nov 1773, WstP
Elizabeth, 10 May 177, WstP
Mary, 22 Aug 1778, WstP
Fanney, 15 Nov 1783, WstP

James, 7 Nov 1784, Enville, Stourbridge

John, 18 Sep 1787, PstB (Penn, St Bartholomew)
William, 28 Apr 1790, PstB
Henry, 7 Oct 1792, PstB - baptism and burial
William, 15 Nov 1795. PstB
George, 30 Dec 1800, PstB

Fanney's place of baptism makes the earlier marriage the more likely?

Thanks for your thoughts hanes teulu. I think that was my reasoning initially, I noted when I first did this research possible siblings of Fanny as the earlier lot ie Christopher, Joseph, Elizabeth and Mary. I also noted John CRUMP was a widower when he married Sarah PHILLIPS.

I haven't a copy of the baptism images in my files - I think they are on findmypast. Pretty sure I looked at them, wonder why I didn't copy them - maybe because I was uncertain. Anyway, is it possible for someone to look at the images to see if on the off chance there is any further information that might tie the possible siblings together, such as an occupation or abode for John? Or I might try to get to my library which has findmypast.

There is nothing else on the image for the baptism of Fanney 1783.

I had checked each FindMyPast image for anything over and above the transcribed details - but lady luck failed to deliver. The paucity of info on these pre 1811 baptisms can be so frustrating.

Thanks amondg, I have seen the transcriptions of FreeReg, was just hoping there may have been some extra information recorded.

And thanks again for looking hanes teulu, it certainly is frustrating. Some vicars recorded a wealth of info, others (probably most) just the basics.
