Theresa Rowe Kelley murder
« on: Friday 15 September 23 19:49 BST (UK) »
Hi, I would love to know more about the murder of Theresa Rowe Kelley in 1899.
If anyone could find any info I'd be grateful. The crime happened in Lowell, I believe. She was buried in Lowell anyway.
Info:
Daughter of Anthony Rowe and his Theresa Saunders.
Married 3 times, first marriage to a Rowe in England, after immigrating with her son William Henry Rowe in 1886 she then was briefly married to William H Rhodes in 1888 in Lowell, however it transpired he already had a wife in England, and third marriage to William H F Kelley in 1896 who was convicted of her murder 3 years later, and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Thanks

Thanks very much, I wonder about the court case. Is there anything about it, as I am surprised he was jailed and didn't receive a worse sentence.

Thanks, this is so interesting. I wonder what happened to the children. The fourteen year old boy I think was William Henry Rowe and wasn't the child of Mr Rhodes who was a bigamist. The little girl I don't know her name. I need to find  out what happened to them.

Thanks so much, I couldn't find him and I looked on familysearch, but I have failing eyesight and so limit my searches somewhat. I am happy that Theresa had at least least one child that lived, but the mystery remains surrounding the little girl. I can find no birth, only the child that died, but the boarding house residents described the little girl, it's very Odd. I am still shocked her husband only got life in prison. His crime was clearly premeditated. I think I asked for write ups of the court proceedings ,were there any? Your ongoing help,is much appreciated.
