62 with an ink blot, or 82?
« on: Sunday 17 September 23 14:27 BST (UK) »
This is from a burial register page dated 1806. (can't post the whole image as I signed my life away on a copyright form)

I'd like opinions please , the top one is 68  (that 8 is consistent with other 8s on the page)
If the bottom one is 62, then its the lady I am looking for, if its 82 then she was 20 years older than the man she married in 1771 and would have been too old to be still having children in 1788.

thanks
Boo

It looks nearer to an 8 to me, Boo.

Modify - I now think it's a 6 with a blob!

Looks like a 62 to me, first digit looks like the 6 above with a blot masking the top.

and I am (after hours looking at it, going to do something else and looking again) veering towards 62 as well  - but asked here as I am unsure if that's wishful thinking or not :-)

thanks manukarik.

I was fairly sure it was 62, but I've played around with the levels and gamma setting, which helps to differentiate the strokes of the pen and the blots (as below), and now I'm certain.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Thanks arthur - no idea what levels and gamma settings are  those are on the very long list of things I don't know about.

though I do appreciate your time in doing it and your opinion that its 62 :-)
