Peter William Fletcher (1832 - 1913)

Peter was born in Liverpool, England in 1832, son of Daniel Fletcher and Martha (nee Gaskell).

He dies in Wentworth, Ontario, Canada on 21 March 1913, widowed (age slightly out by 3 years saying born 1829).

A William Fletcher was the informant who could well be a son.

Trouble is, he is a blank between birth and death.  He is not even with Mum and Dad on the 1841 census never mind anything else!

If anyone can offer any insight in when he went to Canada, who he married, children etc I would be grateful.

If he is not with parents in 1841 - are you certain he survived infancy?

Have you found him on any of the Canadian censuses which are free on FS

This Peter Fletcher had a son William on the 1871 census but he's not your Peter

On Peter's death cert. the informant William Fletcher gives his address as 84 Poulette Street.

In the 1911 census, Peter Fletcher is an inmate in the House of Refuge (for destitute or sick individuals) in Hamilton, aged 81, born England, Anglican.

William in the 1911 census is in the 1891 census in Hamilton, born in Ontario, parents born in Germany. This would match him with the Peter Fletcher, born in Germany, found in the 1871 census in Hamilton, aged 45, born in Germany, so not your Peter. Like another response, your Peter likely did not survive infancy or childhood.

The Rose and Crown was the pub in Pownall Street.. i live 6 miles from there ..
might I suggest you look in the 1841 and 1851 census to see if Daniel and Martha are in the Rose and Crown pub   and any kids ??
