The top one is WW2 RAF cap badge with George VI crown for other ranks.

The second one could be a tie slide and seems to have a grenade or a form of bomb on it. Perhaps it was owned by someone who was an armourer in the forces. Maybe even in bomb disposal.

I never thought of a bomb but your right it does have a look of a hand grenade about it. I have heard about various clubs members of the armed forces belonged to eg the caterpillar club and the goldfish club and wondered if these might be connected to one of those.

My mum's friend's husband was a sapper during the war, maybe the slide belonged to him and not her brother.

tonepad -thanks for the info, I guessed that was a cap badge but its good to have it confirmed. Any thought about the decorative pin/brooch?

Apart from a bomb/grenade, the brooch also looks like the head and body of a flying insect (butterfly?). Any damage on the item indicating wings broken off?
