Tom Pearce Elsey Station Mataranka NT
« on: Monday 18 September 23 01:37 BST (UK) »
This is a photo of the four men Jeannie Gunn based her characters on in her book We of the Never
Never.  Tom Pearce is second from the left and was the character "Mine Host"  He was married to
my cousin.  The characters were connected to Elsey Station, Mataranka in the Northern
Territory, Australia. 1st. left H.H. Bryant (The Dandy) Tom Pearce (Mine Host) Jack McLeod (Quiet Stockman) Jack McCarthy (Irish Mac)  A movie was made in the 1980's based on the book.

This photo has no known copyright restrictions and is part of the general collection of State Library
of South Australia B-39649.

Would appreciate a tidy up of the photo.
Thankyou, Regards, Jen.

Hi Peter,  Thankyou for your work on this photo, you have created great definition and sharpness so
every detail can be seen.  The suits now appear to have been very well worn!  This photo was taken
in 1939 for a reunion of the characters.  In contrast to the suits the hats and particularly the shiny
shoes appear to be quite new, perhaps bought for the occasion.  I really like your sepia
version it is very true to the era.

Regards,
Jen.

Hello loord74,   Thankyou for the time you have spent restoring this photo, you have achieved
a great result.  The depth and definition in your version is much improved
on the original which has a very 'washed out' appearance.

Regards,
Jen.
