Hi - the family lived in Upper Holloway, Islington when WW2 broke out and the 1939 register shows my gran (married mother of one) at Tollington sub-station so I think she must have already volunteered. I know she and her child were evacuated for a while but she returned to London alone and continued to do 'war work' including working on the railways. Is it possible that any aspect of this might be recorded and archived somewhere for me to check? If so, who would hold the records and under what heading - it's more the war work that interests me right now, I have information about the evacuation. Any pointers would be very helpful - this is a new topic for me and I'm at a loss.
