Thanks joger.  This looks good but the age isn't quite right. I think she was born about 1863.  I can feel a visit to the LMA coming on although I don't think they have the dates I need.  Thanks again.

I suggest that she went to England after having stayed ( how long?) in Paris .
French emigrants to England usually came from the west coast , the north of France or Paris.

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganterie_grenobloise#Articles_connexes
here you have short history of Grenobles's Gloves artcraft.

She was a milliner, worked in the fashion environnement, it matches with a family of glovemakers.

I started reading the censuses . I'll let you know what I find.

There are only 2 girls called Eugénie ( 1rst name or middle name) from 1853
to 1872 born in Grenoble, with the surname Allemand or Almand.
One was called Eugénie Joséphine born in 1852, the other one was called Eugénie Léonie born in 1870 who died in 1952.

Eugénie Joséphine parents were Alexandre Hospice ALLEMAND and Magdeleine Rose ( aka Rosalie) BELLOT or BELOT.

The mother was called Magdeleine Rose on her marriage certificate , Rose or Rosalie on the 1856,1861 and 1866 Censuses.
The father is called either Alexandre or Hospice in the Censuses.

There is no child called Eugénie with them in the Censuses . Where was she? Living with a foster mother ? where?

But there is no death certificate for Eugénie Joséphine in Grenoble.

I see several possibilities : wrong name, wrong age, or wrong birth place .

Thank you Joger for going to all this effort.  It's frustrating but I think I need to see if I can get more information in England.  I contacted the LMA about their holdings but I don't think their records cover the right period. Very grateful to you.
