RAuxAF
« on: Tuesday 19 September 23 21:20 BST (UK) »
I have been locating my mother in laws fathers records. I received his records from the RAF and requested his army records. I have service numbers for both services and dates. there are a few things im trying to clarify.

Firstly it says 2612 L.A.A in reg service exp.

previous discharge was a "class B release" what is that?

what is U/T gunner?

It says Discharged - AP968 Para 74 (b) (1) any idea what this relates to?

I know he was at RAF Dyce for annual training.

Ive requested his army records as he served during WW2 as he was in the pioneer corps and I know he went over just shortly after D Day on the 12th of June.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AP968 - Regulations for the Royal Auxiliary Airforce
Not able to find the quoted Para as yet.

AP is for Air Publication, manuals for the RAF. There were many APs with different numbers.

"previous discharge was a "class B release" what is that?"

Class A was the standard release whereby people were released in accordance with a formula based on age and length of service.  Class B was a special skill release and Class C a compassionate release.

Is there any where I can go to find the AP? I live near RAF Cosford. Wondering if they may hold an old document of it?

Thank you for all your help so far.
