If he did marry a second time, you would need to apply online at

I couldn't find the statement from his sister Irenee Macindoe (she was Le Roy's eldest sister) or the police report of Le Roy's death to the coroner.  Presumably there were suspicious circumstances.

Sorry, the police report is on Ancestry. There were no suspicious circumstances, from memory he had a stroke, can't look it up again at the moment, Happy to send you a copy later this evening. I'll send you a pm.  :D

I think there was only one marriage and possibly some confusion about his wife's given names and her age when she died.  It would appear that her exact date of death was not known.  Family wouldn't have placed the headstone at the cemetery either.

DE GUERIN Le Roy Taunton  40 years  Status Single  Father Harry Robin DE GUERIN
TOMLINSON Ruth Ethel 30 years (Born c1896)  Status Single  Father Peter William TOMLINSON
27 Oct 1926
At St Johns Church Adelaide   Ade  309/338

DE GUERIN  Elizabeth Ruth  70 years  (Born c1899)Status Widow  Relative Leroy Taunton DE GUERIN (Deceased Husband)
20 Feb 1971
Residence Croydon Park  Death Place Croydon Park   PtA  Symbol I*  118A/1552

Symbol I =  Indefinite Death Date Registered such as about 20 Feb 1971

They appear to be living together in 1943 however being enrolled at an address is no guarantee of residence at that date.

There was an admission to RAH in 1941 for a Ruth GUERIN, 13 year old student with address Seacliffe.  This was possibly for the elder daughter.  No further details unfortunately.

Hi I have had a look at the Saville Index of The Advertiser Funeral Notices on the SA State library site
there is a record for
De Guerin      Elizabeth Ruth      06-Mar-1971

may I suggest that you contact the SA State library asking for a copy of the notice. I have contacted them on a couple of times asking for copies of death notices published in the Advertiser , with wonderful results.

maybe the notice might help solve the mystery

Thank you to all for information.  I did notice that Ruth, the 13 year old had been admitted to the R.A.H. and was there for 9 days, but no mention as to why.
Ruth Ethel Tomlinson appears to have been born in W.A. to parents Peter William and Hannah Matilda, but I have put "to be confirmed" on my Tree!  It was certainly Ruth Ethel who married Le Roy Taunton de Guerin in Oct. 1926.
I have searched the surrounding cemeteries for her resting place, with no luck, so will contact the S.A. State Library today re her funeral notice.  Thank you for that advice.  Le Roy is certainly in West Terrace Cemetery with a Commonwealth War Graves headstone.
Thanks again,
Dunscore
