CONWAY, Joseph Henry. Edinburgh
« on: Thursday 21 September 23 12:08 BST (UK) »
Trying to find any information on a great aunts husband.

The only documents I have are the marriage record, His wife's death record and their sons Birth record.
On the marriage record in 1872 he is listed as Joseph Martin Conway. They married in St Marys Parish Church in Nottingham. Joseph was living on Station Street and listed as a traveller.
His wife was Ellen Quinton and she lived on Mansfield Road, Nottingham at the time of marriage (she's originally from Mansfield)
Now Ellen died (scarlet fever) in 1875, 2 weeks after giving birth to their son Henry Quinton Conway.
On Ellen's death record Joseph is listed as Joseph Henry Conway and working as a Butler and they lived at 37 India Place, Stockbridge, Edinburgh and this is also where their son was born.
Their son was then sent to live with Ellen's father back in Mansfield.
Ellen is buried at Warriston Cemetery plot 867.

I cant seem to track Joseph down before he married Ellen or afterwards either, I'm not sure what his date of birth was or where he was born or when and where he died. Iv hit a brick wall.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Is he James or Joseph?
You had Joseph in your heading but a James in the body of your query
But then you changed heading to James.

Free BMD index has him as Joseph Martin Conway

What information is there about his father on the marriage cer. (name. Occupation?)

Yes sorry, I don't know why I typed that wrong.
Its Joseph Henry Conway but he has also used the middle name Martin too. I have his father from the marriage record as James but I have no other details for him.
I'm looking for his place of birth, any census records before he married Ellen and after she died.

That's a possibility. Thank you.
On his wife Ellen's death he's listed as Butler, so maybe I need to search newspapers.
