He and Sarah could have parted ways (rather than her passing away) and he and Frances became a couple but couldn't legally marry.

So James born 1833 is not James and Frances Son, according to family trees on ancestry Sarah and James had 3 children George born 1828, Elizabeth born 1831 and James.  Maybe Frances was employed to look after the children once their mother died so easier to say they were married (that is James and Frances)

I'm not sure about Elizabeth - haven;t found a baptism for her, when there are baptisms for George and James, as linked to earlier

I was just looking for Elizabeth but she marries in 1850 names father James and she is the Elizabeth Geary on the 1851 census with George Winfield and Samuel Webster - both as grandchildren of Samuel.

Good thinking with the spelling, yes that could well be her as it says born 1829 alongside.

She is 20 on the marriage in 1850 so pretty accurate.

Hi

James Winfield = Sarah Webster 10th March 1828 Bradley Derbyshire
per Ancestry image of Register
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discoveryui-content/view/629808:61409

So  Elizabeth = Geary was born about 1824 according to 1851 census, perhaps look for a birth of an Elizabeth Webster mother Sarah Webster.

I also note that on the 1841 census Elizabeth Winfield, with parents James & Frances is aged 10 year so born about 1831.  This could be a different Elizabeth perhaps born to Frances prior to her marriage to James Winfield.

will keep looking

Looking at the 1851 census image I think Elizabeth's age is 21, but there's a mark at the top of the 1 that makes it look like a 7. It doesn't look like the 7 the enumerator writes lower down the page
