Gunters of Berkshire should say

Apologies my previous post should say, I cannot find where John Gunter came from.

This John Gunter:

John Gunter had two children Thomas Gunter 21 August 1631, Anne Gunter 2 September 1641 both born in Hungerford, Berkshire.
Campbell, McKenzie, Ross, MacKay, Munro, Sutherland all of Ross & Comarty
Barry, Gibson, Watson, Summers, Edmonstone, Brock, McCartney all of Glasgow and environs
Erskine, Fletcher of Edinburgh

There are a lot of Gunters in nearby Kintbury
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

The protestation returns of 1641-2 have a John Gunter in Hungerford, which would be around the time of his daughter's baptism. The index is on FindMyPast, it says he was a gentleman. Have you looked for wills? There is quite a gap between the two children, maybe with two different wives, or he had other children between them but baptised somewhere else. If he was a gentleman he may have had more than one property.
