John SALISBURY Bottisham c1600
« on: Saturday 30 September 23 12:30 BST (UK) »
Hi. I’m looking for any information regarding a John & Avis Salisbury who are baptising children around 1600 in Bottisham.

I have a very tenuous link to a John Salisbury who married Mary Linge in 1625 at Barrow, Suffolk. This couple are baptising children from 1626 onwards all at Barrow.

I’ve been unable to find a baptism record for John Salisbury c1600 in and around Barrow so am casting my net further afield ?

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated

Kind regards
Robert

Good Afternoon
Not got a lot I'm afraid.
John Salisbury married Avis Norridge/Norredge 29.6.1600 at Bottisham

Old Father Salisbury buried 31 Dec 1639 looks like john
Avis buried 14 June 1658

The only other Salisbury's in the parish before that are
William buried 28 Dec 1573 alias Lincohne  and Katherine a widow baptising Jana 13 June 1574.
Jane d of William alias Lincoln buried 27 Oct 1576

He could have married late because he was looking after his widowed mother and therefore William and Katherine are John's parents.

There is a sign to parish benefactors in the Church records  honouring amongst others John Salisbury 1639.
So could there be a Will out there giving something to the Church and details of his family?

Thank you so much for all the information. As you say there could be a will out there somewhere?

Back to the drawing board I think 🤔.

Thanks again.
