Hamilton Advertiser 18th June 1870:
DUNSYRE
PRESENTATION. - A wide circle of friends and ac-
quaintances last week subscribed a handsome sum -
upwards of £32 to give as a testimonial to Mr Adam
Dickson, sen., mill-wright, Medwyn-bank, to mark
their esteem for him as a worthy and respected
man and friend; and at the same time to express.
however faintly, their appreciation of the superior
mechanical skill, for which he has been justly
famed, for the long period of more than sixty years,
in constructing various kinds of useful and substan-
tial agricultural implements &c. As a mill-wright
he had few equals, and his services were often re-
quired by landlords and farmers in most parts of
Scotland. Mr Dickson is eighty-four years of age,
and we regret to say his health is at present in a
very precarious state. It is to be hoped he may still
be spared for some time. Mr Brown, Westhall,
made the presentation, on Saturday last in his usual
kind and feeling way, which Mr Dickson received
with the most lively gratitude and respect.
Hamilton Advertiser 25th June 1870:
At Medwyn Bank, Dunsyre, on the 16th inst., Adam
Dickson, sen., mill-wright. - Friends please accept
this intimation.
Hamilton Advertiser 25th June 1870:
IN MEMORIAM. - There was interred in the
old churchyard of Linton, on Monday last, one
of the oldest natives of the parish, viz., Adam
Dickson, millwright, Medwynbank, Dunsyre, a man
of very wonderful mechanical powers, and of whom
a short notice was given in last week's Advertiser
in connection with a handsome sum of money pre-
sented to him as a token of their esteem by a few
of his former friends. Deceased was an active,
sober, and unostentatious man, and for years back
has borne very patiently the infirmities which fall
to the lot of those, who by reason of strength,
overstep so far the allotted period of human life -
he having seen his 86th year.
