Looking for Immigration Records for Frederick Cecil Huseman
« on: Sunday 01 October 23 22:37 BST (UK) »
Hello,
Looking for Immigration/Naturalization Records for Frederick Cecil Huseman (1844-1914), an immigrant who reputedly came to America in 1864 and was born June 9 1844 in Hannover, Germany. He settled in Kansas. Thanks for any help.

There are US naturalisations listed on Ancestry with several possibilities for your Frederick Huseman. Some are spelled slightly differently. The originals are through Ancestry.com and I can't access them as I have Ancestry.com.au.  I tried Familysearch but no luck.
Perhaps you could find a kind person with Ancestry.com (or a library) to help.

As shume says, there are a few Frederick HUSEMAN immigration records, however I can only see one in 1864 -

Freiderick HUSEMANN, aged 19, farmer, from Bodenfelde , departing Bremen, arriving New York 28 March 1864 on the America. He appears to be alone.

Apologies - here's another arrival in 1864 -

Freid. HASEMANN, aged 18, farmer from Lindern, departing Bremen, arriving New York 13 Jan 1864, on the New York. Again, he appears alone.

From a quick google it doesn't appear that Lindern of Bodenfelde are near Hanover.  :-\

It looks like he was in Kansas at least as of 1870, so the naturalization was probably there.  There isn't much in the way of Kansas naturalizations online, and I didn't see him in what's available.

The Kansas Historical Society has a naturalization index for his county on microfilm, but not online.  https://www.kshs.org/archives/59243

I notice in the 1870 he is with Caroline HUSEMANN aged 63. There is an immigration record for her arriving in New York in 1865 from Bremen, though I can't see a passenger list.

Modified to add:
Found it now -

Caroline HUSEMANN, 56 from Bodenfelde, Hanover, departing Bremen arriving New York, destination Falmouth Ohio, on the Tireland. With her are Chr. HUSEMANN, 58, sailor and Allwine, 20.

Someone more knowledgeable about Germany may be able to tell us more about "Bodenfelde, Hanover".

Anyway, so Frederick did not arrive with them, and it looks like the 28 March 1864 arrival is probably the right one.

It appears his First Papers were issued in Coffey County in July 1871. This Frederick Huseman age is listed as 27 years(b 1844). This appears to be a match.

Frederick Cecil Huseman is my great grandfather. If you’ll contact me I’ll share any information I have. He is buried in Stringtown cemetery in Coffey County, Kansas.
