Canada War Service Badge
« on: Monday 02 October 23 19:31 BST (UK) »
I'm wondering if there is any way to determine if a badge was returned or if there is a database perhaps to try and find a missing badge? I believe my 2x great grandfather was issued his medals as they both have a serial number associated with them. However nobody in my family ever recalls seeing them so I suppose they may have been lost to time unfortunately. Just wanted to exhaust all options in an attempt to find them if they're out there somewhere. Otherwise I believe there are companies that will produce replicas, is that true? Any recommendations? Thank you!

I found most of his service records through Ancestry, however I don't see a card like the one depicted in the article. The only one I see has it stamped on one side of his Discharge Certificate. Class A and Class B both with serial numbers. I believe since they have serial numbers that means they were issued. I know it's a long shot to find them, but was hoping for some more info. Thanks for your help!

Private Isaac McKenzie

104th battalion later transferred to 26th battalion (my understanding is the 104th was created from New Brunswick locals in order to reinforce other battalions already in Europe - and was as such transferred to 26th battalion upon arrival. It looks like sometime around 11/28/1916 this transfer took place)

Thanks Sandra
Well he had an interesting war.
Badges unlike medals were worn on civilian clothing.
They were for men who had served in a theatre of war & been discharged
in your man's case for wounds.
If they were issued the same as the British Silver War Badge they had to be applied for.
According to his record he did apply for them.
