Western Australian "Inquirer" 15/06/1849

Hello,

I am trying to find copy of an Editorial that appeared in the Inquirer newspaper dated 15/06/1849 that apparently condemned the "Parkhurst Boys" as dangerous.

Sadly, I have searched unsuccessfully through TROVE and I wonder if anyone can help or suggest if there are other sources that I can approach.

The recent escapade at Guildford of two young gentlemen lately arrived from Parkhurst, tend to show the colonists that although they have not convicts sent out from England under their proper designation, they have still a class as dangerous, if once loose in the bush, as the former might become — in fact more so…..

What are the Parkhurst boys but the worst of convicts you could have? Which is the more likely to prove a bane— the youth who, from his infancy, has been trained to wickedness, whose earliest accents have been tutored to guilty purposes, and who may be said to have imbibed vice and infamy from the mother’s breast….

Just a thought!!   I assume TROVE's content does not vary in the UK to that in Australia??
