Posted the death cert image on the Translation board and have had a response already. Wife's name was Bertha and it says his birthplace was Helmstedt, Brunswick which all matches.

Will have to get his second marriage cert to see if it has his parents names on it, which it should.

Found Bertha's death in Wiesbaden in 1940, so the death for Karl/Charles in 1916 is looking more likely.

When Charles married Bertha in 1895 her name was given as NJANGUHL. Her death gives her maiden name as KOPCKE.

Bertha KOPCKE married Wilhelm NJANGUHL in Mecklenburg in 1880, and they had one child.

Have received married cert for CA KNIGGE and Bertha, and parents names all match with the German death registrations so the death that ShaunJ found is the right one.

Can now be closed.
